Jeff Lorenzen is Chief Executive Officer of American Equity Investment Life Insurance Co. He is responsible for the overall management and leadership of the company and its subsidiaries.

Mr. Lorenzen joined American Equity in 2009 as Chief Investment Officer and served in this role for 12 years. He was named Executive Vice President & Chief Risk Officer in 2021 before assuming his current role as Chief Executive Officer in 2024. He has served on the Life Company Board of Directors since 2009.

Lorenzen has more than 30 years of experience in the investment and life insurance industries. Before joining American Equity, he spent 17 years as President & CIO of WB Capital Management Inc. / IMG, a $5.5 billion institutional investment management firm. He started his career at the Statesman Group in the Investment department in 1989.

Lorenzen serves on the Board of Directors for ARAG Group, the Greater Des Moines Partnership Executive Committee and Board, and the Vaughan Institute Advisory Board. He previously served as a Board Governor for the CFA Institute, the global nonprofit association of investment professionals that awards the CFA and CIPM designations and is a past president and board member of the CFA
Society of Iowa. As an engaged leader in the community, Lorenzen served with a number of non-profit organizations in the Des Moines area and is currently a Board Member for the United Way of Central Iowa.

Mr. Lorenzen holds his Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation. He received his BBA in Finance from the University of Iowa and his MBA from Drake University.
