WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Insured Retirement Institute (IRI) issued the following statement following the Senate’s confirmation of Lisa Gomez as Assistant Secretary of Labor for the Employee Benefits Security Administration, an agency within the U.S. Department of Labor. EBSA is responsible for regulating and enforcing employee retirement, health, and other workplace benefit provisions of Title I of the Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA) of 1974.

“IRI congratulates Assistant Secretary Gomez on her Senate confirmation,” said Wayne Chopus, IRI President and CEO. “We look forward to engaging with her and her team in a constructive dialogue to help America’s workers, retirees, and their families build economic equity, strengthen financial security, and protect income in a manner that can sustain them throughout their retirement years.”
